Work Summary

I've worked full-time on the Crash Course channel since 2022, when I joined as the team's first-ever Production Coordinator, focused on supporting operational needs. In 2023, I was promoted to Associate Producer, allowing me to continue supporting the team with my organizational skills while taking on more creative tasks. Overall, the videos I've worked on have garnered over 35.2 million views and 3.3 million watch time hours!

As an Associate Producer, I support each series Producer on a variety of functions, including...

  • Researching imagery to support the learning objectives of the scripts

  • Managing licensing permissions for stock, archival, public domain, Creative Commons, and direct licensing assets

  • Securing shooting locations, crew, equipment, accommodations, and schedules

  • Designing, sourcing, constructing, and dressing sets and props for shoots

  • Operating camera using cinema (Blackmagic) and DSLR (Canon) systems, as well as monitoring and recording audio

  • Assisting with video editing (Adobe Premiere) and motion graphics (After Effects)

  • Wrangling media and organizing footage for editors (DIT)

  • Archiving assets for completed projects

  • Overseeing rights management for our 1,600+ video asset library via YouTube CMS

Some of my key accomplishments as an Associate Producer include...

As a Production Coordinator, I...

  • Created schedules for our editorial, production, and post-production teams via Airtable

  • Coordinated logistics, travel, accommodations, and craft services for shoots

  • Made, organized, and distributed scripts and call sheets

  • Operated teleprompter, organized sets and props, and coordinated talent during shoots

  • Set up/tore down camera, sound, and lighting equipment

  • Wrote standard operating procedures to document team processes

  • Managed video uploads and moderated community engagement for YouTube channel with 15+ million subscribers

  • Captioned videos in English and Spanish

Some of my key accomplishments as a Production Coordinator included when I...

  • Created a project management system in Airtable. When I joined the team, we didn't have an organized way of assigning, tracking, and handing off deliverables. As our team grew and took on projects of increasing complexity, it became clear that we needed a new system, so I built one -- complete with custom-coded automations and personalized dashboards for each team member. This allowed greater insight into team resource planning, improved efficiency by eliminating redundancy, and streamlined organization and communication.

  • Standardized our post-production workflow to improve scheduling accuracy. I worked with our production team to document the key steps of each task in the post-production pipeline and create reliable time estimates for each step. Previously, inconsistencies in workflows occasionally meant the team missed their target upload dates -- something every YouTube channel wants to avoid. With our new workflow, we were able to accurately plan our upload schedule over 12 months in advance, with each episode being exported and uploaded for quality checks at least one week before its publish date. Standardizing our workflow also introduced more flexibility for team members to cover each other's tasks when needed.

  • Coordinated the simultaneous production for Biology and Biología, two 50-episode series covering the standard high school biology curriculum, in English and Spanish, respectively. Each episode was written in English first, then adapted to Spanish, and we shot in alternating production blocks on the same set that had to be converted between shoots. Making these two series in parallel was a complicated dance, and it's paid off -- this course already inspired millions of learners worldwide and counting!

  • Secured lower rates for travel accommodations by establishing staff contacts with frequent vendors

  • Enabled new revenue-generating features on our YouTube channel

  • Re-engaged our comment section after several years of inactivity
